@OH3CUF Bluetooth is generally only an option on rigs that have it built in - you need both serial and HFP, you generally want it in one device, and while the Bluetooth spec allows this, there is almost never anything quite suitable or easy enough to hack into submission. I tried to design something based on an ESP32 and never got this off the ground either, because I got lost in the APIs.

@OH3CUF Generally, any USB isolator based on an ADUM chip will do. My profile background is actually a photo of a USB interface I made with one of these. Isolator+hub board, FTDI, sound card, wire directly together, assemble in one box, done.
If one isn't enough, however, only addressing the root cause will help you: in my experience, it is possible to disturb the USB bus controller itself with RFI. Bluetooth might not be sufficient to deal with that either.
@OH3CUF if you require USB3 an ALLDAQ ADQ-USB 3.0-ISO but if it’s only USB2 like for an 7300 then perhaps an Intona USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Isolator. https://intona.eu/en/products/7054
@oh2cil Somehow I think this is just from problem to another, some random cable with bluetooth support.. Might work, but I have high doubts on such products.
@ozeng You are completely right.
My setup was 1:49 EFW with 10m counterpoise to inverted-V antenna. I had some chokes on the feed coax - clearly not enough.
This is not a problem in WWFF as I'm not using computers but this time I was on competition as portable station. Not easy environment to get things right.
@OH3CUF Olimex USB-ISO is the cheap answer to your question. But addressing the root cause is important - common mode problems means your radio and PC are part of the antenna system, so any noise/EMI generated by the computer has the potential to reduce your reception ability.
What’s your portable setup? You must be dealing with an asymmetric/unbalanced antenna, lack of proper balun, lack of feedline choke…
Suggestion for actually good rig <-> USB isolator? I had some serious troubles with IC-7300 today.
Yeah I know I should try to solve the common current problems, but sometimes it's difficult (portable use).
I would prefer wireless CAT, no connection to the rig at all, any solutions?
@vfrmedia @Bundesligatrainer @archaeohistories I think this account is some sort of auto generated llm ai thing, many posts have inconsistencies
@Mehrad It's not from Turku, but a bit north from Turku. I couldn't quickly find the actual place, somewhere near the coast anyways.
@archaeohistories your first post says it's a photo of Fiegel (not a sailor), your second post says it's a British naval crewman (a sailor). Which is it?
@OH3CUF
I tuned it and said "music from Southwest Finland". Way to go varsinaissuomi 🤘is it from Turku? I couldn't find that info from their website
Realmix Radio at 6195 kHz is really strong here in Finland at least.
Try it, tune on the freq!
The yearly cost of radio amateur license in Finland is going to almost double beginning of 2026.
The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency #Traficom increases their basic frequency fee and due to this radio amateur license will cost 35€ per year instead of old 18€ per year.
This cost increase is for every callsign in use so especially clubs running multiple repeaters, APRS and other automatic sites will take a big hit on their budget.

@F4LUB I have even got some "bug bites" from my CW key where mounting screws were touching ground and CW key was part of the counterpoise.
@OH3CUF looks good.
Now I can reveal that I was part of N6ARA's TinyGawant antenna beta-testing and build one for myself.
The antenna got quite a little of use but at least I got my experiences back to Ara. And one really nasty HF burn too (my own fault) - 5W can be spicy!
This gave me a bit of a thought to continue my adventures with compromise antennas. One QSO is surely enough!
Got wet socks when searching for this radiosonde, (T4820741) eventually found it! It has been long time since last search. Sondehunting just a nice reason to go out to breath some forest air.
